BFFs 4eva: Tina and Amy at the Golden Globes

Despite all the hoo-ha that takes place every year around the Oscars, the Emmys, the Grammys, etc., most award shows yawn me up the wazoo. Live-tweeting has made it all a bit more entertaining, along with Instagram screen shots, but with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler at the helm for The Golden Globes last night, let’s say, fun-city-orama. The piece of history in two female comedians co-hosting aside, what these two ladies displayed onstage marked a breakthrough in female friendship iconography. For an industry of tabloid-show competitiveness and a Hollywood historically prone to full-on catfight screen time and backstabbing dagger looks between women, this gesture of affection marks a cultural turning point. Not only are these women brilliantly funny, but they collaborate exquisitely, elegantly and raucously. A moment to celebrate with a whole bouquet of sparklers.
And the twitterati just wanted more.
