Pussy Riot for Free Speech

This week, despite public outcry via social media and the mainstream press, the audacious punk band, Pussy Riot (Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alekhina and Ekaterina Samutsevich, arrested in March 2012), met a guilty verdict for “hooliganism” by the Russian courts. Their crime? Performing an anti-Putin tune on the altar of a Russian Orthodox Church.

In response to their two-year sentence in a Labor Camp, the band released this single (video compliments of Guardian UK):

The global response to this harsh sentence and its violation of free speech continues. Sign the Amnesty International petition demanding their release from jail.
