#SearchUnderOccupy: The Viral Media Lab
The Viral Media Lab, a collaborative online resource and multimedia event/website, evolved from a Fall 2011 course at The New School for Public Engagement. Participants in the VMLab generated real time documentation of the events at #OccupyWallStreet and nationwide #OWS protests via blog posts, videos, a Flickr photostream, twitter (hashtags #OWS #vmlab) and Facebook and Tumblr. The site continues on as a blog source and archive of viral media for social change.
This online gallery summarizes the #Occupy contributions, with a selection of original photos from the ViralMediaLab Flickrstream; original videos; and a remix response to the Pepper Spray Cop meme. Following these works are a series of Citizen Journalism posts on #Occupy topics, from #OccupyLegos to #OccupyLove. Click on the titles to read and view posts in more detail. Feel free to comment….Be contagious!
