The Financial Times has decided to use the government’s official name Myanmar despite years of calling the country Burma.

I have many reasons for disagreeing with the use of Myanmar and have always been drawn to the FT for news because of their consideration for the name Burma. However that is not the point of this post. What I found most fascinating is that the FT gave readers an opportunity to respond via Twitter! Of course, I jumped at the opportunity to respond.

This may be a circumstance where responses come late and support slowly builds. There are certainly enough people online who would oppose this change. Most importantly the FT has invited their readers to give input which should be acknowledged. What are your thoughts? #premature or #toolate #justwrong
